A Place to Rest. A Space to Be Renewed. A Ministry of Restoration.

At Solitude Place, we believe those who faithfully care for others also need a place where they can be cared for. Our vision is to provide a Christ-centered refuge where pastors, missionaries, chaplains, ministry leaders, and Christian business owners can step away from the demands of life and ministry to experience rest, encouragement, and spiritual renewal.

With more than 40 years of ministry experience, founders Randy and Laurie Southwick understand firsthand the unique challenges faced by those called to serve others. Their passion for counseling, encouraging, and walking alongside ministry leaders has shaped Solitude Place into a ministry dedicated to restoring the hearts and strengthening the lives of those who faithfully serve.

Today, Solitude Place provides confidential counseling, spiritual encouragement, and restorative care at no cost. Whether through in person or online counseling and ministry partnerships, we extend that same care to individuals and families across the country and around the world.

We also provide opportunities for personal retreats and sabbatical rest through a dedicated apartment in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, and the generous hospitality of ministry partners who make their homes and guest accommodations available in other locations. These spaces offer ministry leaders and their families an opportunity to step away, slow down, and reconnect with God and one another.

Our Vision for the Future

Just as a weary traveler pauses along the journey to regain strength for the road ahead, we believe ministry leaders need intentional seasons of rest and renewal. Yet too often, the demands of leadership, the weight of responsibility, and the constant needs of others leave little room for personal restoration.

Without intentional rest, even the most dedicated leaders can experience exhaustion, isolation, strained relationships, and spiritual discouragement. At Solitude Place, we desire to create a safe and welcoming environment where leaders can lay down their burdens, find renewed perspective, and rediscover the joy of their calling.

Rest. Refresh. Reconnect.

These three words reflect the heart of everything we do.

• REST — Step away from the pressures and responsibilities of ministry to experience genuine physical, emotional, and spiritual rest.
• REFRESH — Receive compassionate care, biblical encouragement, and renewed strength for the journey ahead.
• RECONNECT — Deepen relationships with God, family, and others while rediscovering purpose, peace, and joy in serving.

Our desire is not simply to provide a temporary escape from the demands of ministry, but to offer a meaningful place of restoration that strengthens leaders, enriches families, and equips God’s servants to continue their calling with renewed hope.
